Back Home Again

This one is definitely for all the wife’s of volunteers past, present and future. Believe me, I understand this one well ;) At home I wake up much easier than he does and I used to tell him the call and wake him up. lol

BACK HOME AGAIN

The pager makes it’s beeping noise, The scanner comes to life.
You see excitement on his face As he goes off to fight.

No matter what you’re doing Or whatever the current plan,
All you can say is “Later Hon” As he gets those keys in hand.

You say a little prayer That God will keep him safe,
That with all the pride and bravery No one will make a mistake.

You know those men are Brothers And fiercely will protect
The lives of each other and others– They will truly give their best!

You and your “man’s best friend” Are both loyal and true.
You keep each other company Waiting for him to return to you.

And when that front door opens With “Honey I’m home” again,
You thank the Lord he’s back OK, Your brave and strong Fireman.

Living in District

Oh the joys, literally, of living in district. This is yet one big reason why I hate the idea of moving out of our district. For better or worse, I KNOW who is coming to aid and if a truck goes by they know who I am. lol How safe and comfy is that?

Tonight the usual trash burn smell came up, later than normal come to think of it. But we don’t live in the sweetest neighborhood, so almost every night each Summer I’m used to smelling burning trash. Yeah, love having to close the house up. I don’t call it in, I just don’t want to be that one calling in that often. It would literally be 3+ times a week and I’m just not cool with that even though it really, really sucks.

The house kind of kitty-corner to us is going through a ton of remodeling inside and out and I was kind of pissed cause I could hear the big rigs out there and it’s 11:30 at night. WTF? Then I see bunker gear in front of the window and I hear “good old Selby’s”. Oh shit, there’s a fire and I don’t even know it? So I go on the front porch to find out what’s going on and they want to harrass me cause it’s our shift and hubby isn’t working. (he has a killer tech rescue class all week and took vacation so we could actually see him a bit at night) yada-yada of course.

K, well I just went back out to harrass them. It’s been a long day, poor guys. We have a wild land fire going on right now and they had a bad motorcycle accident that they had to airlift. I guess it was FULLY engulfed. OK, now I feel like even more of an idiot. lol But it was in the dumpster at least, not like the house was going. Poor hubby is going to have to hear about this for a while. They are out there yelling, hey the house is on fire. lol I told them unless his room was on fire he wouldn’t budge tonight. He’s WORN OUT!

Ahh, life living in district rocks. Especially when it is your own shift showing up for stuff. HI BOYS! Like I told them, I hope they get lots of sleep. I tell hubby that after I tell him I love him every morning before going to work. :)
