Hey everyone, I’ve got another lady looking for some help. Nichole is a firefighter and is looking for some other women in the same boat to chat with. She contacted me on the facebook page. I sent her off to Hydrant Girl and would love some other blogs or sites to send her to as well.
I’m sure Firefighter Nation has some groups for female firefighters. It’s just not something I’ve searched out for myself. I know I’ve come across a few blogs in the last couple of weeks, but haven’t read enough posts from them to know if they are worth recommending or not.
Do you have a resource you can send Nichole’s way for talking with some other female firefighters/medics? Thanks, you guys rock!

Hello!
I’m sarah Im 18.. And testing to be a professional firefighter this winter! I’d be the first woman and youngest in my town if I make it on the job.. However people are always trying to discourage me, even my family. Is It hard having a family and being a firefighter? I haven’t really talked to any females because they’re not very common in my
Town.. Do you have any advice?
Thanks!!
Kim
I am 23, a volunteer firefighter/basic. Working on my I. Also married to a firefighter with 3 kids. It’s VERY hard, and I also feel people are discouraging. But…FUCK EM! I hang out at the station enough to know you need to be tough enough to act like it doesn’t bother you if you wanna make it. It’s hard, but all hard work leads to something just as gratifying.

Very unique story Wendy. I’m posting your blog to facebook and twitter as I’m sure I have many that would love to check it out. Thanks for stopping by!

Well, she must be looking for someone to talk to about their careers. Female firefighters are not so many.

Sara- Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t be a firefighter. I was a volunteer up until my son was born. My father and 2 of my 3 brother’s are also firefighters and one of them is a paid firefighter. I was the only female on my department, some of the guys didn’t think it was a good idea but I went in there and showed them that I was just a tough as they were and wasn’t scared to go fight fire or a MVA and it be bad. The best advice I can give you is go out there and show everyone that doubted you that you can do anything a man can do. I have faith in you to do it.
