There are some of our mom’s who deserve more than a day a year in their honor.  These moms have gone above and beyond the call of duty.  Here are the three winners of our Facebook Page Fire Strong Mom contest.

Each of these mom’s will be receiving a Fire Strong Bracelet or T-Shirt.

My parents married when my mom was eighteen. They struggled with infertility for twelve years before they conceived and had me and my two younger siblings. My mom sacrificed her career to come home and be a mom and housewife, and she home schooled us from K-12th. I have always admired her strength and sacrifice for us, but it wasn’t until my dad was diagnosed with cancer that I truly saw her strength. It was only 46 days from his diagnosis that he passed away. Stunned, my siblings and I (ages 16, 17, 21) didn’t know what to do. She was our strength as we watched her step into the workforce for the first time in twenty years. She had never even pumped her own gas before! She supported us all through college, and continues to be our rock. Last Two years ago, she met and married a wonderful man. Last September, we lost him in a tragic car accident. Once again, I’ve seen her inner strength and beauty surpass her grief. She is my inspiration, and I hope my girls see even just an ounce of her grace and strength in me one day.

My Mom has endured so much in her life. When my brother and I were 8 and 10 my Dad was killed in a very horiffic accident. Somehow she managed to pick up the pieces and raise her two children. My Mom remarried after I graduated from high school. My step dad was an amazing man. He loved my brother and I like we were his own kids. In 2008 he was diagnosed with HMDS. My Mom was with him every step of the way. She sat by his side through all his treatments and painful bone marrow biopsies. In December of 2008 he was diagnosed with Leukemia. He died on April 9 2009. She never once complained or gave up hope. She has been my rock through everything in my life. She is my best friend and the one person I can rely on most in life. I am married to a wonderful firefighter and my mom supports my husband in everything he does and treats him like he is her son. She prays for him when he is called to duty and helps comfort him when that one call isn’t the easiest. I don’t know what I would do without her! That is why my Mom is FIRE STRONG!

My mom had to endure the nightmare that most mothers fear; she lost a child, but not to death. When I was 18, I married a man who was not a good match for me or the devil. He was abusive and he thought that it would be a good idea to move me away from ALL of my family. I was 20 years old the last time I was allowed to speak to my mother or the rest of my family. For 5 years, they did not know whether I was dead or alive. I couldn’t even send a letter without the risk of being put into the hospital. My mother stayed strong throughout this entire time, NEVER giving up on me coming back to them. It was five years, almost to the day, that I made the phone call to my mother that she had waited for; I had left my abusive husband, and I wanted to come home. She asked no questions, held no grudges, and just brought her little girl home. My mother, still to this day, remains the strength that I need to forgive my past and move on with my wonderful life that God has granted me now. This is why my mom is FIRE STRONG.
