With the day to day craziness of this Fire Life, it is easy to skip the whole practicing what we preach thing.
We wondered how many fire families actually have a Fire Escape Plan mapped out and practiced?
Today we welcome in Fire Prevention Week. This year, let’s use this as an opportunity to better our chances of survival, by joining in preparedness. Let’s not let another year, nor week, go by without taking some time to invest in our future battle plans.
If you read this past Friday’s Family post here: FQT: Safety Week- Fire Escape Plan, we gave all kinds of tips from a fire fighter who teaches elementary schools about Fire Safety, and how to talk to your kids about fire and escaping.
- On Wednesday, our very own Jessie Jackson, the Rescue Pack extraordinaire, has her Flame Squelcher writing an awesome piece, on how to prevent fires in the first place. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for that and other tips coming out in the Sisterhood this week.
We Want This To Be Easy
As a Mom of three boys, 7, 6, and 17 months, a business owner, SAHM, a hunter’s widow, an aspiring Ninja/princess/singer/artist, I know how it can be. You have a list of good intentions a mile long. The things that are in your face get the attention. So this is me, jumping up and down, saying, “Mom. MOom. MOm. Moooom. Mama. Mommy. Mom. Ma. Ma. Hey Mum. Mom!!!”
All you have to do is print this Free Fire Wife Survival Fire Escape Plan. Personally, I know the temptation to make everything from scratch, or from glitter and popsicle sticks. You know, the usual. But with something as mega important as saving your children’s lives, we don’t want it to go on the back burner. We created this sheet especially for you. We kept it simple to help you get it done. You just draw the rooms of your house in the grid, have the kids cut and glue a few landmarks, plan your routes, and then practice! No thinking ahead, shopping, or measuring. Just print and spend some time with your kids being Craft Masters and Fire Preventers!
*FQT (Family Quality Time) Fridays and Craft Master Mondays with CAKEGIRL are usually reserved for the Fire Wife Sisterhood of FirefighterWife.com, but for Fire Safety Week, we wanted to share this important information with ALL of our fire family! For more information on what the Sisterhood is and what we offer, visit us here: The Fire Wife Sisterhood.
