Marriage Gratitude 28: Working the Holidays

by | Everyday, Firefighter Marriage

Day 28

We’re in the season in or around Thanksgiving and some of you will spend the holiday apart due to work schedules.

It’s hard to not be upset about not being together with family during the holidays.  With Christmas coming up, some of you feel like you don’t have so much too look forward too.  (Stay tuned on Facebook and we’ll be sharing posts soon about surviving the holidays solo!)

Firefighters, we know you don’t enjoy working on holidays and special occasions. Who does? A big thank you to those of you working trades to allow others to be home with their family for a holiday.  I look forward to the years my husband can offer to work for young families so that mommy and daddy can both be home for special days.

Today, I am grateful for every holiday worked so that people can be cared for or that someone else can have a holiday with their family.  And for our understanding together in our marriage that this is part of our lifestyle.
