Hubby said he had a few things to order from amazon soon so I asked him to order The Fireman’s Wife so I could review it for all of you. I’m excited it will be here next week. Just wish it was coming before we head to my FIL’s for a visit. I usually get a little bit of time to just chill out while we are there and they don’t mind if I grab a book for an hour.
I’m looking forward to reading the book, then giving a review. If I like the book and find value in it, then my plan is to do some giveaways and get copies into readers hands as well.
Let me know if there are other books you’ve enjoyed about fire service, fire life, etc. I know hubby snagged a book for himself as well and I plan on getting a review from him about it. If he likes it then maybe it’s something you can buy as a gift for your man

I am very interested to know what you think! I have read it and had mixed feelings. Everything she writes about is true, the times when mandatory OT comes at bad times, being home alone with sick kids, etc. But I kind of felt like it was watered down. In our house, at least, things are a little more exciting. And I don’t just mean in good ways! I don’t know… I’ll wait to see what you and others think before I blurt my opinion too much

Very cool Erin. Thanks for not giving me an impression to start the book off with. Sometimes that can sway me a little, but most times it doesn’t bother how I feel about a book or movie.
Ironically we were at our friends house for a big Easter brunch and she had it on an end table. She’s about half way in. She didn’t sound like she had much to say about it. BUT, it was also time to go out and egg hunt and we had about 30 people and kids there. lol It wasn’t a good time to do a book review
I’m looking forward to hearing other opinions after I review and also for recommendations for more books!

I read that one recently. It’s very wll put together, and she expresses her feelings very well. I just though – from MY poont of view- that it was a little over the top for my taste. I think she pretty much worried herself sick. I don’t know, just a little whiney for my taste. I hate that word, but it’s the only one I can think of.

I completely agree Cyndi! I remember thinking to myself, if I knew that I would be worrying THAT much, I probably wouldn’t have become a fire wife. It sounds as if that is constantly on her mind. I know for me, if I had it on my mind that much, I wouldn’t be able to concentrate on my kids, me, or my husband when he was home! So I agree, she was a bit whiney… One thing we are doing here is once you have read the book, on the inside jacket you put your name, your husbands name and his dept/position, then pass it on to another ff wife. Kind of a neat idea!

Thanks for commenting Cyndi. Opinions are always appreciated
I am almost done with my current book and then I’m going to get started on The Fire Wife. I’m looking forward to reading it.
Erin, it’s odd to hear that she is so worried in the book. I mean, not saying I don’t. But since she was in the field you would think she’d feel a little better about the job and all the training they receive. Now you have my curiosity peaked even more to read it. lol
