On last week’s How To ROCK Pink article Heather Isaacs asked if I could share some Style tips inspired by the Pinup look. I am so excited to do just that, because there are a few lovely tricks that you can learn from the Pinup style that you can mesh into your daily routine. I know what you’re thinking: “Pinup? You mean lots of Cleavage and sexy photographs?” Nope! That’s not what I mean. I’m actually going to show you how you can take these sexy looks and sport them in a VERY classy, sophisticated way and the cool thing is, it’s super sexy too. Again, I’m going to share with you some “Sneaky Sexy” tips.
You will find that mot Pinup dresses have this length. They hit right below the knee. Not only will opting for this length give you that classy, Pinup look, but this is just a great length guide to follow. It elongates you and gives a really sexy, classy shape overall. This is one of my TOP “Sneaky Sexy” tips!
Yes, this look is very sophisticated, and honestly, I think that’s why some people shy away from it. They think that because it looks this way, it must be un-comfy. With the right material, this dress can be super comfy. I have quite a few and they are much more comfortable than my jeans. As long as you aren’t going to be running, this dress can even compare in comfy-ness to sweat pants.
If you have to run while wearing this dress, no problem.
By running, you will lift up the part right above your knees and it will no longer be a problem. : )
Even the Pinup dresses that poof out a bit, typically hit right below the knee and
I think that it’s a VERY flattering length.
For jewelry keep it classic, and add in a bit of Glamour. Anything that you would see on an Old Hollywood star like Marilyn Monroe, for example, will probably go great with your classic dress. It will typically pull the look together. Jewelry is a great way to look “fancy”, without much effort.
Here are some pieces from my shop ForeignChic.com. Again, they look fancy, but they are inexpensive and an easy way to look Like a Millions Bucks! Look for designs that are timeless to pair with your dress.
In addition, to the tips above, here are some great ways to get that classic, Gorgeous Pinup look with little effort.
A Hair Flower goes a long way! You can find a hair flower clip and it’s one of the easiest things to just put on as you rush out the door. If this look isn’t appropriate for the day because of work etc., keep one in a little plastic bag in your purse and wear it out to dinner that night. 🙂
For the purse keep it simple and classic.
Something like this:
would be Great. If you are a Mommy and you need a large bag, or maybe you’re just a woman who likes to have all of her stuff with her, no worries, you can do a big bag, just keep it classic and you’ll be looking Great!
For the shoes, again just keep it classic. Even in the wintertime, you can pair your Gorgeous dress with the right pair of boots, and you’ll look Fantastic!
I suggest checking out NineWest.com for some great classic style shoes.
From NineWest, you could try:
If your skin is similar to the color of this shoe, it will elongate your legs.
BONUS TIP: Match the shade of your skin to your shoes to look taller, longer and leaner!
This heel looks like it might be the perfect height for comfort. Even too short, can be horribly painful. Also, it looks like there may be enough support. I’m not sure if it’s the “perfect” boot, but it’s definitely pretty right on.
There you Go! Those are some of the Best, ground rule tips that I can give you on how to get that classy Pinup look that fits your life. The Pinup look can definitely be integrated into your wardrobe, even at work. Take a look at Christina Hendricks (Joan) from the TV Series MadMen. In the TV show her work clothes are work appropriate AND Sexy! They typically have a very high neck and again they usually hit right below the knee. I love these classic looks. They make life easier and they make you feel Great!
As always, if you have any questions, comments, or tips that you love to use to get that Classic Pinup look, comment and share below! I can’t wait to see what you have to say!
