They are a small department in a rural area that trains hard so that they’re ready for when they’re needed for all kinds of emergencies. There are over 30 lakes and ponds in the area, so they also provide water and ice rescue along with Fire and EMS. They’re equipment includes two engines, a tanker, a rescue, a brush fire engine and an air boat.

They are in the process of trying to get funding to build a much needed new fire station. Their current building is not only in a flood prone area that they have to evacuate during rising waters but it also hinders response in Winter because some of their trucks cannot fit in the station for heating because of original construction of doors that are just too short.  Their equipment is currently stored in two buildings with a third one for meetings due to lack of space.

With a population of 2340, Woodbury responds to 60-70 calls per year with their 20+ firefighters and 8 support members make up the department roster.

You can check out more from Woodbury on their Website and Facebook Page.  Thanks for sharing Woodbury!!
