Peachy Crockpot Pork Chops

love crockpots; like, I have a serious love for them. I toss stuff in, flip a switch, and look like Martha Stewart 8 hours later. Bonus: the house smells great for my fur baby all day! That’s why I was so excited to see an entire section of the Eat Like a Firefighter Cookbook devoted to crockpot recipes. I also possess a major sweet tooth, so this recipe not only sounds like it’d taste delicious, but I have a feeling it will make my house smell like sweet peachy goodness; and who doesn’t love that?

This recipe comes to us from Fire Wife Jill Tho who lives in Salt Lake City, Utah. Jill has been married to her firefighter for almost 15 years (woah, go Jill!).


She has this to say about this yummy sounding recipe:

“I am known for finding a meat and some random ingredients and somehow making a meal out of it; most of the time they are a success. This is one of them! I like to buy pork chops from Costco and freeze them in appropriate portion sizes for my family. I love this meal when I know we are going to have a busy day and night and I want to have a healthy home cooked meal ready for us. This meal is also the way that I got my kids to love yams.”

Peachy Crockpot Pork Chops


4 pork chops

2 T. olive oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

3 yams

3 T. peach jam

1 T. apple cider vinegar

3 chicken bullion cubes

2 tsp. soy sauce

1 c. water


In a large skillet heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil, add in garlic and sauté for approximately 2 minutes. Add pork chops and brown until just crispy on the outside. Place pork chops and all other ingredients except the yams in the crock pot. Cook on low for three hours. After three hours, peel and dice yams and place in the crockpot. Turn to high and cook for an hour and a half more.
