I know, we’ve all read those annoying articles “Wear more Color!” Blah Blah Blah! As if wearing more color was an obligation or a rule. What IF I want to wear black everyday, huh?
Well, I never quite really jumped onto that whole “Wear more Color!” bandwagon either,
A trip to India swept me off my feet!
Yep, I headed on a plane and off to India on December 15th, 2011!
I could explain to you my philosophy on color etc., but the best way to share my transformed view of color is to SHOW you what I saw.
Here it is: an escape to India!
WARNING: The urge to throw on colors and wrap a scarf around you after your trip to India may occur!
I arrived in India wearing orange! I knew that lots of color awaited me and I was ready!
But, was I ready for THIS much color?
And THIS much print?
10 days after I arrived, on Christmas Day December 25th, I was ready to wear black for Christmas, but I knew that I wanted to add some Christmas-y color! So, I opted for this scarf ! Also, it covered up my shoulders, very handy!
At this point, I was HUNGRY for color and loving ALL of it around me!
Inevitably, Miss Mia started borrowing salwars and sarees from her Indian “sisters!”
One thing that I noticed – I felt Awesome! Another perk – I looked vibrant in photos! Oh my goodness, color was sneaking up on me.
I could not get enough of colors and I even started liking prints and mixed prints for the first time! There is a way of dressing in India that is so tacky, that it is not tacky. I’ve seen GORGEOUS sarees with 5 different prints in one dress and it is Beautiful!
My eyes were in heaven and get this, the spirit of these people WAY out weighs their fantastic style!
Gorgeous sarees could be seen from outside shop windows.
Gorgeous Gowns and…
Intricate details made this glamour girl’s mouth water!
It was Inevitable! How could I walk past all of those gorgeous sarees and not try one on?
I visit my friend Penny’s Facebook page often to see her latest photos and of course to get some style inspiration. Here are some of my favorites!
Even little kids are dressed in bright colors and elaborate jewelry! This is definitely not about money! You can see people from all classes in India sporting their best jewels and garments. No age is excluded. 🙂
It is the way of ease that they wear colors that most inspires me!
From Mia, and my friend Peniel Prabhakaran, and her family and awesome Community in Chennai India, bring out your inner Indian girl! 😀 You WON’T Regret it!
