20 Thanksgiving for my Marriage

Close calls.

They can happen to anyone, at any time, in any place.  Firefighters are dispatched to calls with all sorts of possibly dangers and spouses spend so much time alone, things can feel scary.  We have to be thankful for those almost moments where life could have been changed drastically in a moment.  No matter if it was a too close for comfort incident on the fire ground or if your spouse was in a near accident or situation that could have been dangerous.  As a women who often travels solo, I can think of a few times that could have ended up with an ending no one wants, BUT they didn’t.  So much thanks for those moments that are just “almosts”.

Today I am thankful for those close calls that were only that.  I am grateful for the strength we have as a couple to stand strong during these scary moments, finding true gratitude and moving on standing tall.

Come Together in Crisis

I’m sure a lot of spouses reading this and even a few firefighters can say that they have been on the receiving end of that scary text that starts out with… “I’m ok but…….”. Many of us have gotten those texts.  So many emotions that can linger and fester if you do not address them.  You have to know you aren’t alone.  There are so many of us who have gone through the motions from very minor to near death experiences.
