24 Thanksgiving for my Marriage Day 24 may not be so easy for some of you, especially you fire wives.  Training often takes up large portions of time and it can feel like it is stealing time away from family. I know I have dreaded trainings that required my husband to drive two hours to the State Public Safety Training Center… but I also know that he wasn’t always thrilled about being gone either.  Some training only takes a few hours while others may require them to be gone for a week or longer.

Either way, no matter which side of the training you’re on, be grateful for every bit of training.  Every day.  Every class.  Every trip away from home.  These training hours are what keep you, your spouse and/or the crew safe.  Knowing there is safety precautions being carried out on scene is something to be truly grateful for.

Remember a few days ago we talked about Close Calls?  Think about those close calls and how training likely played a part in keeping them safe. The next time you’re felling robbed because you or your spouse has to give up time for training, remember to be grateful for those opportunities.
